9:00 am - 1:00 pm
The past few months have introduced uncertainty as payers and providers alike have contemplated how their ICD-10 remediation and implementation plans may change with a delayed ICD-10 compliance date. Despite this disruption, one thing is clear: there is still no time to waste when it comes to moving forward with ICD-10 implementation!
This interactive workshop is designed to help payers and providers consider and discuss some of their most pressing concerns on the road to ICD-10 implementation.
Session Objectives:
- Discuss the status of ICD-10 implementation of the payer, provider and government sectors.
- Outline an approach to assess your organization's training needs and develop training programs.
- Describe how health care payers and providers can collaborate to pilot and test ICD-10 transactions.
- Discuss the lessons learned from ICD-10 implementations involving payers and providers.

Training and Education
The work to remediate technical information systems for ICD-10 is large, but just as important – or even more important – is preparing your workforce to deal with the changes. Staff training needs will vary from those that just need to be aware of ICD-10 to those that need intensive coding training. This workshop component will outline an approach to assess training needs and develop innovative training programs in both the payer and provider settings.

Testing
Careful testing is critical for the successful adoption of ICD-10 across the industry. To minimize the risk of disruption to both finance and operations, health care payers and providers must develop practical, collaborative approaches to testing. This session will outline what makes ICD-10 testing so complicated, describe sample testing approaches that capitalize on payer and provider collaboration, and summarize the key benefits and challenges of a collaborative testing approach.
