NCHICA Board Elections 2018

Pursuant to the Bylaws of the North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance, Inc. (NCHICA), the Nominating Committee hereby puts forth the following list of seven candidates for election for the seven open positions in the Board of Directors Class of 2021. This ballot is being sent to the primary representative of each NCHICA member organization that is in good standing as of June 30, 2018. Each member organization is entitled to one ballot.

Candidates

Arlene Chung, MD, MHA, MMCi

Arlene Chung, MD, MHA, MMCi

Associate Director, Health & Clinical Informatics, UNC School of Medicine

Dr. Chung is a practicing primary care physician and Assistant Professor of Medicine & Pediatrics at UNC School of Medicine. She also serves as UNC Health Care’s Lead Informatics Physician for Patient Engagement, where she focuses on leveraging the patient portal and digital health technologies to improve health outcomes and efficiencies for both patients and clinicians. She is an inaugural national institutional board review member for the NIH’s All of Us Research Program for precision medicine and serves as the sole informatics expert on the panel. She is also a physician scientist focused on health informatics research in the areas of digital health, data visualization, and patient-generated health data.

Seth Cutler

VP & CSO, Allscripts

Seth is responsible for building and executing the company’s overall information security strategy and programs. He oversees risk management, assessment and remediation activities, merger & acquisition and integration, business continuity planning, disaster recovery, as well as security training, company policies and vendor management. Prior to this role, he was a Director of Quality Engineering at Allscripts for eight years. Before joining Allscripts, Seth held increasingly responsible positions in software development and quality assurance for Teradata, Reciprocal, Inc., and Seer Technologies, Inc. Seth holds a BS from the University of Albany, SUNY and has completed the Accelerated Leadership Program at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and the Executive Management Program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He is Teradata Analytics Warehouse certified and holds an HCISPP certification from ISC2.

Robert Gordon

Director of Information Systems, Halifax Regional Medical Center

Robert has over 40 years experience in Information Technology working in healthcare, finance, retail, and consulting. Prior to joining Halifax Regional in December 2005, he worked for National Commerce Financial Corp (Central Carolina Bank) in Durham where he was First Vice President and Manager of the Network Services Department. Robert served as the Co-Chair of the NCHICA CIO-CMIO Roundtable from January 2011-April 2014 and has been a member of the Board of Directors since October 2012.

Sissy Holloman, JD

Sissy Holloman, JD

VP, Law Department, Transactions and Strategic Initiatives, LabCorp

Sissy previously served as Assistant General Counsel for UNC Hospitals and in private practice. She currently serves as President of the NCHICA Board of Directors and as Co-Chair of the Legal Workgroup, and previously served as Chair of the NCHICA Contracts and Business Associate Task Forces. She received her law degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and undergraduate degree from Davidson College.

James Kluttz

VP & CTO, Novant Health

James is a senior Information Technology executive with over 30 years of experience in the healthcare provider industry. He has extensive experience in clinical, finance, technical architecture, operations, communications, business intelligence and end user support. He is a technology champion and innovator who builds relationships that enable trust and confidence to empower the business to deliver the highest quality of care and service to its patients. He earned his BS in Information Technology and MS in Leadership from Walden University.

Alicia Stokes

Senior Strategic Advisor, Healthcare Strategy, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC

Alicia has been working with BCBSNC’s Healthcare Strategy team as a Senior Strategic Advisor for almost five years. Prior to coming to BCBSNC, she worked at a large academic medical center in NC for almost a decade. During her tenure there, she primarily focused on working with providers to implement a community-led, team based approach that included primary care physicians, specialists, community resources, and a range of other players across the healthcare continuum—all committed to practicing coordinated, patient centered care.  Alicia believes that the future of healthcare hinges on the collaborative efforts of thought leaders across the ecosystem placing a strict focus on quality, affordability, experience, and outcomes. Her prior experience working with providers is critical to helping BCBSNC lead the charge to transform healthcare within North Carolina and beyond.

Susan Thomason, RHIA

VP, Global Alliance Management and Development, IQVIA

Susan is an experienced healthcare executive with over 20 years healthcare/pharmaceutical/investment partnering industry experience. Susan is passionate about advancing healthcare analytics that will result in better patient outcomes. Prior to joining Quintiles (now IQVIA) in 1991, she worked for Medical Review of North and South Carolina and UNC Health Care. She earned her BS in Health Information Healthcare Administration from East Carolina University. She also serves on the Board of the NC Biosciences Organization.

NCHICA has created a collaborative organization that no other State has achieved. It includes vendors, providers, payers, physicians, nurses, clinicians, attorneys, information technologists and other professionals, working together to improve healthcare within North Carolina in every way, from the use of technology, to public policy considerations, to patient privacy, and more.
