HIPAA 101 Workshop
Wednesday, June 29, 1:00-5:00 pm
This workshop is designed to support people who are expecting to become leaders in forming and operating information security and privacy programs in healthcare entities. The content will assume that attendees have little or no current knowledge of the HIPAA Security and Privacy regulations as applied to their entity. Instructors Dave Kirby and Doc Muhlbaier have many years of experience both teaching and applying knowledge in this area for entities including hospitals, AMCs, clinics, public health agencies, insurers, and business associates of healthcare providers. A workshop of this length can’t fully train a person with no knowledge of HIPAA to be a Privacy Officer or Security Officer, but it is designed to give attendees a good grasp of the requirements and how they are typically applied. Workshop registrants will receive a short online survey designed to gather data about them and their interest in this topic that will help the instructors prepare the best training experience.
Instructors: Dave Kirby (Principal, Kirby Information Management Consulting) and Lawrence Muhlbaier, PhD (Associate Professor, Duke University Medical Center)
Registration fee: $100 early / $150 late
Note: this is an optional event and not included in the AMC Conference fees. A Networking Lunch (12:00-1:00 pm) is available for an additional fee of $17.
