The purpose of the CIO/CMIO Roundtable is to enable and create a collaborative environment among members. To build this collaborative mission, the Roundtable will focus on the following four initiatives:
- Education of members through discussion of topics presented by the Roundtable membership.
- Establishment of working groups, similar to NCHICA’s other working groups, to develop initiatives (e.g., programs, workshops, etc.) that will benefit each member’s respective organization.
- Periodically provide an audience for NCHICA member vendors to present their products and concepts. These product presentations will be on topics identified by the Roundtable and will be held at the Roundtable’s discretion.
- Encouragement of on-going, informal, networking, and sharing of issues and solutions among Roundtable members, via e-mail.
It is essential that a collaborative environment be established in order to provide value to each Roundtable member, so that they may obtain necessary information in order to support success at their respective organizations.
Therefore, through the establishment of a “future technology education/discussion” item on each agenda, the group hopes to provide a high level of understanding and open dialog. Such topics will be discussed during Roundtable meetings solely for the purpose of education of members and for using the group as a sounding board for members’ gain.
Vendors will only be invited to present on a topic that is of interest to members and for which an internal presenter/facilitator cannot be located. In order to fund the resources needed to staff the work of the CIO/CMIO Roundtable and NCHICA in general, certain vendors may be selected by the Roundtable to make short presentations on new and innovative solutions. These non-sales presentations will be by invitation only.
Membership within the CIO/CMIO Roundtable is limited to those who serve as the lead manager/executive for the information management function in a hospital setting.
